Call for Abstracts

The WAAVP 2023 organizing committee would like to invite prospective authors to submit abstracts for oral and poster presentations at the Conference.

The Conference theme is: “Parasites: Global Impacts, Local Solutions”

All abstracts will be reviewed and assigned to appropriate sessions. Authors of the accepted abstracts will be notified of the methods of presentations. The organizing committee particularly encourages graduate students to present their work in the Conference.

The Conference will focus on Parasitology with the following sub themes:

  • One health/Parasitic zoonoses
  • Novel Diagnostics & parasite control
  • Host parasite relationship
  • Antiparasitic drugs
  • Parasite vaccines
  • Genomics in Vet Parasitology
  • Molecular diagnostics
  • Arthropod borne parasitic diseases
  • Drug resistance and management
  • Education in Veterinary Parasitology
  • Alternative control methods
  • Ruminants
  • Equines
  • Swine
  • Companion animals
  • Wildlife and exotics animals
  • Parasite epidemiology
  • Asian Parasitic Issues

Important Information

  • Abstracts are submitted via an online submission system. Register with the abstract submission link and establish your user name and password.
  • If you are submitting more than one abstract you must use the same login for each abstract.
  • Kindly upload your abstract file consisting Abstract Title followed by Author name in the following format : “ Abstract Title_Author Name ”
  • The maximum length of an abstract is 300 words.
  • Please ensure that your findings are described to a level sufficient for reviewers to make an informed decision on quality. Abstracts that fail to meet these criteria will be rejected.
  • Do not include author names in the title or body of your abstract – these are entered online during the submission process.
  • Abstracts will be reviewed and any abstract that was submitted for consideration as an oral presentation, but was unsuccessful in that regard, will be considered for poster presentation.
  • Each author may present a maximum of two presentations at the Conference.
  • Please note that at least presenting author must register in full to attend and present the abstract at the Conference.
  • In case, your abstract is accepted, you need to register yourself within two months, or the abstract will be withdrawn.
  • Accepted Oral presenters be offered a 15 minutes Oral Presentation (13 mins + 2 mins question and answer period). Full presenter instructions, for both Orals and Posters, will be available closer to the conference dates, when accepted authors are notified.

Submission of Abstract for Consideration

All abstract submission has been closed.

Abstracts should:
  • Identify their author, including contact details
  • Identify any other copyright owners, including contact details
  • Include a heading describing the subject to be covered in the abstract
  • Show how the abstract relates to the Conference’s main and subsidiary tracks
  • Provide a detailed summary of the abstract contents, including
    • Aspects that would be covered in a presentation at WAAVP 2023
    • Additional material proposed for publication, if any
Having considered your abstract, the scientific committee will advise if an oral presentation can be made available to you. If it cannot, a poster session opportunity may be made available. In all cases the WAAVP Scientific Committee’s decision will be final. If your abstract is accepted, the scientific committee will keep you advised as to when it will be presented. Once your abstract has been submitted, you may only make changes to your authors and affiliations up to December 31, 2022.
