WAAVP Dublin Scholarship Fund

The Organising Committee of the 28th WAAVP Conference, planned for Dublin in 2021 but held virtually because of pandemic restrictions, is pleased to be able to provide a limited number of partial scholarships for Early Career Researchers (Graduate Research Students Post-Doctoral trainees, parasitology residents in training) to attend the 29th WAAVP Conference to be held in Chennai in August 2023.

Applications should be uploaded by 5PM GMT+1/WEST/UTC+1) by the deadline of 9th June 2023 at the following URL: https://forms.gle/3PYzg8sd6q7eLL6J9 Information required includes:

  • Full name, email, institutional affiliation and postal address
  • Brief summary of third level education, qualifications and career experience • A copy of abstract(s) for presentations which have been submitted for the Conference.
  • A letter of recommendation from current supervisor
  • An indication of how the balance of costs will be met
  • A brief indication of how the applicant sees attendance contributing to their career development (500 words maximum)
  • A narrative CV (2-page A4 maximum, 11 pt Ariel font) describing the applicant’s education and career to date, current research, and its actual and potential impact. (Advice and a template for writing narrative CVs are available at https://royalsociety.org/topics-policy/projects/research-culture/tools-for-support/resume-for-researchers ). You are not required to follow this format exactly, but please use it as a guide when preparing your 2-page document).
Applications will be screened for eligibility and those not meeting the eligibility criteria and requirements specified will not be assessed. Preference will be given to applicants from low and middle-income countries but all ECRs are welcome to apply. Successful applicants will be required to acknowledge support in their Conference presentation(s) and submit a brief report following the Conference.   Privacy Notice: When you complete your application you will be using a Google Form. Uploaded files will be stored on your local Google drive (a Google login is required). The WAAVP 2021 Local Organising Committee will collect your email address, postal address and institutional affiliation, and maintain a record of this information only for the purpose of evaluating applications for funding under this scheme. Your email will be used for communicating with you about the status of your application, for processing the fund, if awarded, and for confirming expenditure and receiving your report. We will not share your details with any other party and will not keep a record of your personal data beyond the time required for administration of the fund.
